Can you dance without a song?
Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
Though the olive crops fail and the field produces no food,
Though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
We’ve been told that life is filled with ups and downs and rightfully so we have all experienced its motions at some point in time. It would be great if life turned out exactly how we plan, and everything that happens to us can be accurately planned for and predicted. They say life is a journey and it actually is a journey but who goes on a journey and doesn’t pack all they need for it? Would you set out to a place knowing fully well there is danger, great possibility of loss or even death on the way? Life has taught us that we are not in ultimate control of how it evolves, how it transitions and how it ends.
I know you can save for the rainy day but do you know what kind of rain you are saving for? With all that you have saved for retirement, kid’s college and vacations, you are one doctor’s visit and a terminal diagnosis away from everything becoming so insignificant and present itself a waste of time and life. A woman goes through 9 months of pregnancy only to lose the child at the point of birth and everything she was supposed to do to get to that point she has done faithfully but now what? You wake up one morning and your top business client who makes up 50% of your revenue stream goes bankrupt and you can’t sue for past receivables, what do you do? You walked out of your house with your two feet but one marathon and a terrorist attack later you are being told you will have to be on prosthetics for the rest of your life, what would you do?
There are people who have never caught a break in life, I mean absolutely none, if that was you what would you do? If live gives you lemon, make some lemonade, at least that’s what they say. So I guess if it gives you pepper, you make some pepperoni? How about if life gives you nothing at all? How about if life keeps taking away the little that you’ve got, leaves you empty and drained, what would you do?
What puts the smile on your face and what can take it away? What is your satisfaction and fulfillment hinged on? What takes your strength and the passion for living away? Trust me life will come for you and when it comes, will you be prepared because you have absolutely no way to know what it will bring your way or demand from you.
You stand no chance if you are alone and you are you. If you are the one you depend on to see you through what you are going through. If you are your own strength and salvation ,the master of all that you are about and the author and finisher of everything about you.
So I’ll ask again, what would you do?
